Faith Can Be Like the Wind
I had never really thought about this idea until I started reading a devotional about how when you have faith, it is a belief in things unseen. That you can’t see the wind but you can feel it and see the effects the wind has on you and the things around you.
It is the same with God’s love. You can’t see it but you can feel it and you can see the effects of it on those around you. Sometimes it comes like a ray of light shining down at a specific moment. In others, it is the feeling of someone being there with you. For others, maybe it is a specific bird that takes flight over where they are. Any number of things can be a sign of God’s love for us.
If we are looking for these signs of God’s love for us they bring us comfort. When we are struggling to see anything beyond that moment it is harder to see and feel God’s love for us, yet it is still there. When we go through those moments often it is because we have taken our eyes off him. We have focused on ourselves.
It doesn’t mean that we have lost our faith in God either. It just means we have focused on something with so much intensity that everything else falls to the side. How long we take our eyes of Jesus can often dictate how long our situation will persevere in being intolerable. Because even though it doesn’t shorten the time that we are in this situation, our faith brings us peace through all that happens in life. It also helps bring us peace with whatever the final outcome may be.
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1
