Have you ever felt so compelled to help someone you just couldn’t NOT do it? Give someone some money, a ride, or any number of things. Have you ever not followed that instinct and felt a sense of loss so great that you feel regret and are almost haunted by the fact that you didn’t help?
Someone once told me that God puts angels in our path to test us to see if we do the right thing. A heart check of sorts. God doesn’t care if we appear to be the perfect follower, he cares more about what is in our hearts. How we follow what we know to be the right thing to do.
God cares more about us following our heart to do the right thing as opposed to “appearing” to be Christian. Doing what people expect us to without our heart involved. If we only go to church on Sunday because it’s what we feel is expected then we don’t carry God in our hearts throughout the week. We put him in a corner and limit our relationship with him to one day a week when that relationship should be so much more!
Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. – 1 Samuel 16:6-7
